The Saskatchewan Home Renovation Tax Credit
In an effort to make home renovations easier and more affordable, the Saskatchewan Party government is offering the Saskatchewan Home Renovation Tax Credit. From October 1st, 2020 through December 31st, 2020, homeowners have the chance to claim up to $20,000 in home renovation expenses on their 2021 and 2020 tax returns. That means you can earn up to $2,100 in tax credits if you take full advantage of this tax credit program.
Eligible renovations must be renovations of an enduring nature. This program was designed with your home’s future in mind, which is why the renovations must be essential to the home.
Examples of eligible renovations include:
- Bathroom or kitchen remodels
- New roof installations
- Driveway renovations
- Plumbing, electrical, heating, or air conditioning installations
- Interior and exterior paint jobs
- New deck, fence, or wall installations
